Nottingham Cellars Micro-Lot Reserve wines are produced from the finest vineyards in the Livermore Valley that showcase the region’s ability to grow world class Bordeaux Varieties. Each variety is site specific and was chosen as one of our finest offerings available.
Classic Cabernet Franc. On the nose the wine opens with red berry fruit, herbaceous green tones and hints of coffee. The palate follows suit with flavors of raspberries, red cherries and cocoa. Like other fruit grown at Casa the wines have a minerality brought on by the gravelly soils of the site. Medium bodied with high tuned acidity and gripping tannins suggest a wine that will age well!
We grafted Cabernet Franc and Malbec in the winter of 2010 and 2013 got the first fruit from our efforts. The wines did not disappoint. In 2013 we sourced Malbec and Cabernet Franc as contingency plans to make sure this new fruit was of good enough quality to bottle on its own and be considered for Supremacy. In year 1 both were bottled as Micro-Lot Reserve wines and were both used in our flagship blend. We are extremely excited for the future of these amazing blocks.
Harvested on October 22nd, 2013. The fruit was brought to the winery and 2/3 was destemmed into open top bins and the last 1/3 into barrel fermenters. The barrels fermented on native yeast and the bins were inoculated with D254. The lots were pressed together and barreled down in primarily second use French Oak barrels and underwent spontaneous ML conversion. 4 Barrels were selected to make this wine.
