Tasting Notes

Blackberry and cherry cola are met with earthy tones of gravel, wet slate and shale. The wine is soft on entry, driven by dark cherry fruit and rose petals with vanilla and spice underneath. The fine grained tannins and vibrant acidity are hallmarks of the Harris Tesla vineyard. It is enjoyable now but has the tools necessary for long term aging. A splash decant goes a long way, but a full 2 hour decant is worth it if you have the patience. Decant, serve slightly below room temp

Production

Destemmed without crushing on October 22, 2013 to open top bins with hand punchdowns. Inoculated with 50% native, 25% d254, and 25% d80 yeast strains. All lots pressed together post primary, 20 day skin time with free run kept separate. Coopered in 100% new american oak barrels for 22 months.
