2015

Vasco Urbano Wine Company was created to showcase the exceptional Rhone style wines that are being grown and produced here in the Livermore Valley. We believe that the Livermore Valley’s unique terroir is perfectly suited for the Rhone varieties Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Petite Sirah. In addition, we source fruit from other prime growing regions throughout the Central Coast in the spirit of the traveling artist Vasco Urbano Louriero. Together these wines represent our efforts to produce World Class Rhone style wines here in the Livermore Valley.

Tasting Notes

The wine shows off the classic waxiness and vibrant acidity typical in white Rhones, taking on the latter as the cornerstone of this wine. Granny smith apple, Meyer lemon and grapefruit skins are met with the classic nutty, yeast driven tones that show so well in these Rhone white varieties. Tropical undertones of barely ripe kiwi flirt with primarily citrus driven flavors of this wine.

Production

Whole-cluster pressed immediately after picking on August 8th, 2015. Fermented in 100% stainless steel under glycol at low temperatures with no ML conversion. Aged in 60% stainless steel drums, 40% neuteral oak with aggressive lees stirring for four months. Chill slightly, twist off the top and enjoy!!
