Our Varietal Expressions wines are crafted to showcase the wonderful flavors produced by single grape varieties. Typically fruit driven and often sourced from a single vineyard, these wines are meant to enjoy now with friends and loved ones. Every year our winemaker is challenged with decisions regarding what barrels are allocated for what wines. This can be a painful process, allocating lots never to reveal themselves as single varietals. The end result, however, is worth the sacrifice. By sourcing grapes of several varieties from numerous grow sites, we are able create blends with attention to complexity and flavor.

Our finest representation of single varietal wines, we use our top performing barrels to create micro-lot offerings produced at the highest level. These wines are typically aged longer, in programs where aging takes place in more new oak barrels. This makes for bigger, fuller wines with extended age ability. The fruit must be grown in the Livermore Valley to be considered for this program.

VDCS is our finest representation of Cabernet Sauvignon from single vineyards. Our winemaker sources Cabernet Sauvignon from numerous grow sites throughout the Livermore Valley. Every vintage we choose our top three performing lots, pull the finest two barrels from each and create a wine that is true to its specific grow site. The program was initiated during the 2009 harvest and will be available in February 2012.
